Purposes of the BRC standard for Agents and Brokers Issue 1:
Article 22.214.171.124 dictates the following: “Where raw materials are purchased from agents or brokers, the site shall know the identity of the last manufacturer or packer or, for bulk commodity products, the consolidation place of the raw material.”
The purpose of this requirement is ensuring that even if the company bought a raw material from an agent or from a broker, it is still in possession of all the information necessary to guarantee traceability and approve, as a supplier, the last manipulator of the raw material, the last packer, the latest phase of consolidation of the mass.
Important information for manufacturers, packagers or storage companies, necessary for approval, must be provided by the agent/broker or directly by the vendor, unless the agent/broker owns the BRC Global Standard for Agents and Brokers certification.
If the agent or broker own the “BRC Global Standard for Agents and Brokers” certification, the requirement is not applicable, thereby in this case, the agent or broker is not obliged to provide his customers with BRC7 certificates or the mentioned information, thus saving money and resources (staff and time).
The certification benefits:
- international visibility, thanks to the publication on the BRC portal, an IT platform that allows to answer customers’ requests from all over the world.
- reduction of inspections and money saving
